Cooking Away....

This morning, I made DB a FAT omlette, which consisted of fresh asparagus, fresh chopped mushroom, chopped ham, chopped onions, cheddar cheese, and crumbled feta cheese. I served it with hash browns and corned beef hash. ;)

I also wanted to share with you this AWESOME mushroom and green bean vegetable medley that I made. It was SOOOO good. I surprised even myself. It's an easy and healthy recipe. Just chop fresh green beans and fresh carrots. Put the carrots and green beans in a pot to boil until tender (to your liking).

Chop fresh mushrooms and fresh onion (cut into rings). In a separate pan, sautee the mushrooms and onion in butter (I used Vegan butter). Sautee the mushrooms and onions for about 5 or so minutes. Finally, drain the green beans and carrots, then add them to the mushrooms and onion. Add white pepper, salt, and garlic powder to your liking. Cover with a lid. Continue to sautee them in the pan like that until the vegetables are tender to your liking. I like it when my onions are close to burnt!  Then enjoy!!

What's good about this recipe is that you can add all sorts of vegetables. I never knew vegetables sauteed in butter with white pepper, salt, and garlic powder together would be so TASTY!

Cowles Mountain

2 weeks ago, I went hiking with my husband, cousin, and nephew at Cowles Mountain - San Diego. I had a blast! For those who don't know Cowles Mountain is 3 miles roundtrip and 1,593 feet elevation. It was a great cardio workout, not to mention effective stomach toning ;)

It was foggy when we went. We went at 7:30AM. It gets really crowded so it's best to leave early

This is the fake snake DB and I scared my cousin with ;)

Flower I took at Coco's Restaurant. We went out for a nice breakfast afterwards

Towel Closet

So I finally got around to organizing our towel closet:

BEFORE:

 AFTER:

Great Job Mom!!

By now, you probably heard of the mother who put her 2 son's toys on ebay because they damaged her bathtub with those toys.

This article  explains it.

I refuse to put photos of the children up on my blog, but you can see the ad in the article. The ad includes a photo of her 2 children holding up the toys on sale, with the older child crying and obviously distraught.

Her description reads:

"We are selling 8 Beyblades, 2 of them light up. As you can tell they are not happy about this! They have been using their bathtub as a "battle arena" and Beyblades + Bathtub = Destruction!!! With the metal ones they managed to scrape the enamel off the tub, take a chunk of tub out and break off the soap holder. SO if you 'win' this auction DON'T play with in a bathtub!!! We have received a quote of $500.00 to replace the tub, some tiles, and soap holder + labor of course! They had approximately $125.67 in their piggy banks that will be going to toward the cost. We will use the profit from this auction towards the balance and then it is onto other toys!
My opinion?? FANTASTIC! What a great way to teach your children that for every action comes consequences. These children are old enough to know what's right from wrong. By selling the toys, and also using the money in their piggy banks towards the cost of repairing the bathtub- these children are learning a valuable lesson. They will think twice about doing something like that again.

I'm not surprised that there were numerous comments condemning this mother and calling it harsh, too much. Some suggested a "time out" would suffice. Some even went as far as to accuse the mother of robbing them of their childhood! That is what's wrong with society today. Lots of parents don't discipline their children or teach them any responsibility.

Although I disagree with the mother posting an actual photo of her children up on the world wide web, I admire her for correcting and disciplining her children. The mother did not beat her children and I highly doubt her children will be traumatized by this. I think this was the perfect punishment. Way to go mom!!!

Vegan Food rocks!

I just cannot get enough of Native Foods!! DB drove us over an hour just to go to Native Foods. I LOVE their sweet potato taquitos and their Baja Surf Tacos.

We also spent over $60 at Loving Hut.

Eggplant Clay pot

We also bought some Vegan pizza from Ralphs. They were on close out so we got it for 50% off!

They have no idea

I despise reality shows and I cannot tolerate reading nor watching anything that has to do with celebrities, wannabe "celebrities", and rich, spoiled kids. There are some exceptions of course such as Joaquin Phoenix or Bob Barker, who have dedicated their time, donated their money, and utilized their "celebrity-ism" in campaigns against animal cruelty.

Back to my rant. Jersey Shore is stupid, Khloe & Lamar is stupid, The Rich Housewives of {insert city here} is stupid, Keeping up with the Kardashians is stupid, Kate plus 8 is stupid, The Bachelor is stupid. It's ALL stupid. These people get paid to create drama and to show the world how materialistic, ignorant, selfish, lazy, apathetic, and clueless they can be. Their lavish lifestyles are SO different from what many Americans live. Why do people watch that trash?

It sometimes is close to impossible to go on the interwebz or turn on the television without having to hear, see, or read about celebrities and rich heiresses, rich prince and princesses, who have NO IDEA what it is like to live out in the REAL WORLD.

In a nutshell, my blood boils when I read about this :

A 20 something year old heiress who has never worked a day in her life buys a $150 million dollar mansion:

while the rest of the US has to deal with this:

and this....

Then I hear about 4 year old Suri Cruise's $3.2 MILLION - to rumored up to $13 MILLION dollar wardrobe....

While OTHER children in the world endure this until they die....

This is yet another post as to why I turned agnostic......

It's just not fair.
